Employee Benefits Scheme
Employment benefit scheme is structured non-wage compensation and perks provided by an employer to employees, in addition to their regular salary. These benefits are designed to support the employee’s well-being, job satisfaction and financial security while also helping employers attract, retain and motivate talent. Some of the Benefits Schemes are mentioned below:
- Health Insurance: As per UAE regulations, employers must provide minimum basic coverage at no cost to the employee.
- Annual Leave & Public Holidays: Employees earn 30 calendar days of paid annual leave after one year of service or 2 days/month if employed six to twelve months. Public holidays (usually 11–14 days) must also be paid.
- Sick Leave: Up to 90 days per year with pay structured as 15 days full salary, 30 days at half salary and final 45 days unpaid and medical certificate is required.
- Maternity & Parental Leave: Female employees receive 60 days (45 at full pay plus 15 at half pay) with potential additional unpaid leave for childbirth-related illness. Parents receive 5 working days paid within six months of the child’s birth.
- End of Service Benefits (EOSB): After completing 1 year of service the non-Emirati employees will receive 21 day’s basic salary per year (first five years) and 30 days per year thereafter. It must be paid within 14 days of contract termination and cannot exceed two years’ wage.
